History

Ancient Japanese hunting breed from the mountainous Kishu region of the Kii Peninsula, prized for hunting wild boar and deer. Designated as a Natural Monument of Japan in 1934 to preserve its purity and recognized by the FCI in the Spitz and Primitive Types group.
