Large, powerfully built guardian breed developed in Soviet Russia with a pronounced guarding instinct, combining Saint Bernard and Caucasian Shepherd traits. Known for its balanced temperament, self-confidence, and devotion to family while maintaining strong protective instincts.
Developed in the 1950s at Soviet 'Red Star' military kennels in Moscow post-WWII by crossing Saint Bernard, Caucasian Shepherd Dog, and Russian Spotted Hound. Goal was to create ideal military guard dog adapted to harsh Russian climate.
