Large, athletic, wolf-like dog developed in the UK to resemble wolves while maintaining a domestic temperament suitable for companionship. Known for intelligence and loyalty but also independent nature.
Developed in the UK from the late 1980s by Eddie Harrison (Edwina Harrison) crossing German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, and selected Inuit-type dogs to create a companion dog with wolf-like appearance. Not recognized by major international kennel clubs but governed by the Northern Inuit Society.
