Developed in the 1970s by David Leavitt to recreate the healthier, more athletic bulldog of the 18th and 19th centuries (Regency Period) using crosses of English Bulldog, American Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier, and Bullmastiff. Recognized by UKC but not AKC
