Large athletic sighthound developed for hunting deer in the South American grasslands. Also known as Veadeiro Pampeano, this slender but strong scenthound is known for its keen hunting ability, endurance, and resistance.
Developed in South America from Iberian hounds and adapted over centuries for hunting pampas deer and large game in the harsh Pampas grasslands. Shares lineage with European sighthounds and recognized by FCI as Galgo Barbucho. The breed was nearly extinct but has been revived through dedicated breeder efforts.
