Description

Athletic, medium-sized American foxhound strain developed for exceptional speed, stamina, and endurance in fox hunting. Known for its lean build, distinctive running style, and loud, carrying voice with keen scenting ability.

History

Developed in the 1860s by Colonel Haiden C. Trigg in Kentucky. Created by crossing English Foxhounds imported from Ireland with established American lines, notably Birdsong and Walker hounds, to produce a faster, more driven foxhound with enhanced speed, endurance, and trailing ability.
